Oh my gosh! I sat and cried as they chronicled his hours and hours.... and hours...and... more... hours .... toward the finish line. 17 hours and 3 minutes later, Matt finished his race. He missed the cut-off by 3 minutes. But THAT did not stop him ... Matt gave it his all and proved that we do get second chances. Read Matt's Lessons from Kona here.
Inspiring. Motivating. Real.
A winner in my book

I loved Matt's story. I saw another inspirational story about a guy who competes in Ironmans with his handicapped adult son. During the run he pushes him in a wheelchair, during the swim he harnesses a dingy boat to himself, and during the bike his son sits in a custom seat attached to the bike. Not only does this guy compete, he is FAST. He will NOT compete without his son. He says he can't do it alone. I bawled after seeing him on Oprah for a couple of hours!! These stories really put things in perspective! We have so much to be thankful for....
The guy Jenn is talking about I did see on youtube, I was very emotional after seeing it.
As for the biggest loser: it has been aired here one season and I didn't see it back then. I do read a lot of criticism about this show however can't say if that's correct as I can't jugde for myself.
I know! Matt was an inspiration! I love the show too...that is what inspired my post about my inner fat girl. I just sit there and cry during the show. My husband hates it. :)
And the guy with the handicapped son, do find the video on youtube. I bawled and cried, so awesome!
Hey Guys!
Yes, I read some about the guy w/ his son. I'll have to watch him on youtube. Hubby thinks I'm such a goofball when I sob during the shows, but he thinks it's kinda funny. :-)
Fran, yes, there's been lots of controversy about the show and what the people go through while they're on the ranch (unrealistic workouts for hours on end, super-strict eating, etc...), but no matter what, the stories are so powerful, the changes really dramatic. It's amazing to see what real people can do when they put their mind to it.
I missed that episode. :( But I did see the marathon one last night. Very inspiring, but I thought they could've let them run with more people. That's all part of the fun, right?
