12 Miler: Check!

Wow! I completed my first 12-miler last Sunday for my long run.

I shared with you this week my anxiety before long runs, and mentioned that I was increasing my mileage.....

Truth is, after having low mileage Sunday runs most all of January, I was determined to log a full 12 miles for the final Sunday, to close out the month on a high note, and get myself ready for my (first) upcoming Half March 7th!

I 'woo-hooed' as I finished, grinned from ear to ear, felt a HUGE sense of accomplishment, and headed in for (more) Ibuprofen, Ben Gay, a shower, and breakfast... I was starving! Two hours and 50 minutes... Yep, you read it right: 2:49:53. I am a turtle runner, after all. And with three more (12+ mile) long run Sundays before my first Half, I need to build the endurance and pick up the pace just a teeny bit...! After a lousy January with old injuries acting up, I was pleased to accomplish two things last Sunday: (1) Finish my 12 miles, and (2) Finish January with 50 miles logged (10 behind my goal, but I'm happy).
Oh, and that explains my Tuesday comment: I was still feeling 93 instead of 43!  Lots of good hurts! Yowzer!!!!

What's next??  12 more this Sunday, of course.  I'm.... already.... getting... anxiety....  sigh....

Happy running, friends.....

12 miles is FANTASTIC! And the more you go on the long runs, the easier they feel. :)

Way to go Robin! That is AWESOME! The next few Sundays are going to be easy peasy for you!!! You should come to the country for long runs... miles and miles of uninhabited roads (ie no dogs to chase you!) and it's all marked in perfect mile sections so you know exactly how far you have run. No gps needed here!!! Lots of luck!

Wow that's awesome! I'm training now for a 1/2 coming up in April (my 2nd 1/2 mara) but as of now my long run is 9 miles. Time to start increasing distance. Your post is inspirational - congratulations!

Congrats. I ran 12mi on Sunday too. Me and a team in training friend. It was tough. Took us about the same time too. 2:50:00 -ish. This was only the 4th time I've ever run more than 10mi. And I'm about to run my 2nd half at the end of Feb.

Hey guys!
Thanks for all the bloggy love and good wishes! The first 12-miler was awesome and I was actually looking forward to the next one. It turned out well, but I covered only 11 miles; forgot my knee braces, but... ran my first trail! Yay! Felt better than the first 12-miler. Looking forward to this weekend (13 miles)....
