“Whoever undertakes to set himself up
as a judge of Truth and Knowledge
is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods.”
~ Albert Einstein
This quote may not seem to be about running, but when
you read the rest of my story about the first week of
group training, it will all make sense.
The "gods" laughed heartily, I'm fairly certain.
Have you ever learned a lesson in which
you thought you knew the answers or 'best way,'
only to learn that you really didn't.....??
What happened?

I am sure it has happened lots, but my most recent was at my 3rd half marathon last December. I had a goal in mind, and against my better judgement I let myself get swept away by a faster runner and my ego and started too fast. I missed a PR by mere seconds and finishing was a struggle. From then on, I vowed to always run my own race and not let my ego try to keep up with faster runners who may be using a different strategy. It worked at my next half (unofficial) and I PRed and almost got under 2:35.
