Monday Motivation - Week 26 ~ Looking in the Mirror

"You cannot perform in a manner
inconsistent with the way
you see yourself."
~ Zig Ziglar

A new friend recently described herself as
"old, wrinkled, and overweight."

And I thought to myself,
"Give yourself credit. You are here.
You are owning the next steps of your journey."

Look in the mirror.
No.... Really look in the mirror.

What do you see?
Who do you see?

Is your self-image
supporting or sabotaging
your performance?

Happy running, friends...

Own your journey.  One run at a time.

It totally depends on the day.
Somedays I feel like I am doing great for a 54 yr old - - - I am in pretty good shape - could still drop a couple pounds - eat well and have a great family.

Other days - I am tired and feeling old - looking tired - feeling sorry for myself - eating wrong .

Lucky for me I usually kick myself out of this mood quickly.

Reality is 90% perception. So when you look in the mirror, you're not really seeing what is there, but how you FEEL about what is there.

There are 500 lb people who are convinced they're not a pound over 200. And there are very thin people who constantly try to diet away some imaginary "fat."

I think we rarely see ourselves as we truly are. Thats why we need good, honest friends whose opinions we trust.
(sorry for the long comment, I'm just learning a lot about this in my eating disorder research)

When I don't run or exercise my self image definitely takes a turn -- It's all mental, that's for sure, but it's the adrenaline that keeps my head fresh. I've also found that I have a better self image with age -- I'm more comfortable in my own skin.
