Tues Training ~ Isn't it Ironic?

A few weeks ago, I began noticing some ironies while starting summer training and planning a schedule.

They look something like this:

  1. The days are longer, yet you have to go to bed earlier (when it's still light out!).
  2. More weekend BBQs and get-togethers, yet you want to skip alcohol the night before a long run (usually a Sat or Sun).
  3. Lots of good summer TV and movies, yet you have to ..... (see #1).
  4. Takes less time to dress for summer running, so you can sleep in an extra 15 minutes, right? Nope.  You have to get up and out earlier to beat the heat (which leads to #1).
  5. Fewer clothes to wear for summer running, yet extra water bottles to carry.

Can you add any to the list?  I'm sure I'm missing bunches.

Happy running, friends....

As soon as I got my summer running schedule to train for the Chicago Marathon I busted out my calendar and compared it to the summer concerts I had already planned like last year. lol. Maneuvering things around and praying it all works out. I had just written an email to a friend saying I can only do stuff on Friday night since I run long runs on Sunday. lol So what you wrote is all true!

Never gave all those things a thought. I just get in such a happy state about running so early and it being light out, that I don't have to wear 3 layers of clothes just to end up with 2 layers tied around my waist that the trade offs are worth it.

You need more time to get dressed because you have to put on your sunscreen.

I don't go to bed earlier as I have more energy during the summer and need less sleep.

I actually stay up late in the summer because my work is less stressful- then I just take more naps!!!

All the bbq's and parties but have to watch what I eat for racing!
