TGIF - New Friends, Paying it Forward, Bizarre Holidays

Happy Friday, everybody!

Ready for another weekend?

Wishing you a Fantastic Friday from
my little lake in Orlando ........

#1.  Welcome, new friends!
A big *HUG* (we do lots of those around here!)
and sincerest thanks for joining the Turtle Tribe
a supportive community of runners of all levels.

So glad you're here!

Please.... leave us a comment and introduce yourself.
Where do you call home? How'd you find us?
Newbie or veteran runner? Have a blog?
What keeps you up at night (just kidding, unless you want to share!)
Always fun to meet new friends!

#2.  Paying it Forward Members

How's it going?
Several of us took the challenge at the beginning of 2010
to raise $$$ with our miles
and donate it to our charity/group of choice.

How are YOU doing?

I've seen lots of adjustments this year
on your blogs (and mine!)
as we've dealt w/ injuries, new babies, etc...

Um, can we say
life happens???

It's been a great year so far, though,
as we raise money for those folks
that need a little extra help right about now.

Keep up the good work, friends!

Supporting good causes and good people...
ALWAYS

#3.  And finally... a little Friday humor:
Did you know ...

tomorrow, July 17th, is

Folks, I CAN'T make this stuff up...
I promise you!

(Well, maybe...but I didn't this time.)

Check it out, see what's up, and if you're into
math (what??), you'll really like this.

But....
If the only piggies you're interested in are under
your fave running socks, you might like this instead...

Sunday, July 18th is ....

 (now we're talking!)
Always the 3rd Sunday in July (who knew??)...

Look out Baskin Robbins... here we come!

Hmmm... how many miles will I need to run?
Who cares?

Worth it once in a while!
Rockin' the ice cream this Sunday!

Happy running, friends...

Happy Friday! I have an awesome ice cream place a block from my house. I have been known to go for runs and stop in on my way home. They see me in my sweaty running gear and say I deserve some ice cream. I tend to agree :)

I've been coming right along with the Pay It Forward Challenge. My goal was 750 for the year and I'm at 415 now. My pledge money will be going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation when I register for the Race for the Cure this year. Training will be down the tubes for a few weeks - banged up my toe yesterday!!

What a great reason to eat ice cream on Sunday - I'm an ice cream fanatic!!!

Well, you totally made my day by announcing Sunday is National Ice Cream Day...I've got it marked in big, bold letters on my calendar. And crimeany....National Yellow Pig day?? I'm leaving that one alone. Have a GREAT weekend, Robin!! :)

Happy Friday!

I have 250 miles on the year. My goal was 750, but after I injured my back it really tossed that goal out the window as I am just getting my mileage back up. I hope to do 500 now.

Good luck every one with the Pay it forward. I didn't know about it...where the heck was I?!
I like the piggy holiday. Maybe they should reschedule the Flying Pig marathon to July 17.

Hi there! I'm new and thought I would say hello, since I'm peeking in on your world. Since I'm an ice cream fanatic ,thought this would be as good of time as any. I found your blog through MJs, which I found through Daily Mile. My husband's birthday is Sunday and I just brought him home a Founders Favorite cake from Cold Stone. Now I really can't pass up just one tiny(ish) slice since I have 2 great reasons to celebrate the day. :)

Harold! Ice cream for post-run fuel.. BRILLIANT! :)

Kathy, Take care of that toe. I'm sure you'll recoup your mileage. You're over halfway there already - not surprised!

Lori, I know you're working those miles, girlfriend. You've had a rough time of it this year. :(

To everybody ~ thanks for the great comments today. Sounds like WE could have an ice cream social! LOL

Love the Flying Pig idea, AppleC! Are they listening? :)

Welcome to Cris! Thanks for introducing yourself.. I checked out your blog. We've got another medical expert in the house everybody. With all our injuries, we need them! Thanks for joining us.

HUGS to each of you for making my Friday! Rock your weekend and enjoy the ice cream. In fact, be piggish about it! Ha Ha

Thanks for your sweet note on my blog! In honor of Ice Cream Day, we made home made vanilla ice cream...and tomorrow,we will really celebrate with our favorite chocolate/peanut butter sundae at the Beach Club near Epcot....

I would love to meet you for coffee or a run...it may not work out this trip, I have 3 girls with a HUGE itinerary planned out...but I will be back for the January Half Marathon Weekend...my college daughter is running the whole, and I am running the half...are you running? It would be great to meet up!!

Just did a PIF update last week. Decided to add in walking miles since I lost so many runnings miles due to injury. I look forward to donating the money to them this November!

I'm pretty proud to be 18 miles away from 500! If my IT band cooperates, I should surpass it easily :) Thanks for the challenge Robin.
