Life. Lemons. Lemonade.

You've heard it before, right?

Life.  Lemons.  Lemonade.

You know the drill.

But at the risk of ridiculous overkill (and tongue in puckered cheek), I'd like to share a few thoughts about this whole lemon thing .....

A number of you have noticed my quirkiness has been ... shall we say... a bit off this summer, as has my writing volume.  And others of you who keep up with the Turtles real estate (margins) noticed my Upcoming Races list has become noticeably shorter all of a sudden.

Yes, it's true.....

Hubs and I had to take a step back from my upcoming race schedule and sadly, will not be going to Chicago for the Half in early September.  Nor will we be traveling to Miami OR Melbourne Beach (FL) in late Jan/early Feb as planned.  The Women's Half Marathon in St. Pete, FL is up in the air at this point, too.  I canceled our hotel reservations, but may find a rabbit in a hat somewhere, somehow, and still get to participate.  (Still want to meet up with Amy!)

So, I can do what a friend suggested recently,

when he casually said

Hey! .....

Um, thanks, Brandon!

grrrr..... !

But after spending the summer
feeling like this ....

and this ....

I'm the little guy on the left....

I decided to explore my lemon options a bit more,

and found these suggestions....

Hmmm....
Still waaayyyy too chippy for me right now!

I think I like THESE suggestions MUCH better.....

Or this one ...

Yep ~ definitely closer to how I really feel...
LOL!

But really,

I think I like this solution the very best....

Seriously, BIG thanks to my buddies who've
texted and e-mailed to keep me sane,
keep me on (somewhat) of a running schedule,
and offer their hugs and support.

After having so much anxiety
about running with others,
it's been AWESOME to have
running friends who notice
when you miss a run (or two),
but also understand.

Sappy me...
I'm such a dork.
But I REALLY appreciate the
kindness of friends, running buddies.
REALLY.

 So,

another lesson learned this summer:

As I 'shut up and eat the damn lemons,'
I am sad about missing races (mostly Chicago),

but

it makes missing some of the training runs
(especially the long runs!)
a bit more tolerable.

Now, I'm off to find a few of these locally......

while sipping some of this.....

Happy running, friends....

Traveling for races is fun. But it takes so much money and time. I've recently realized I might be over committing myself for races and race events.

Hang in there Robin! *HUGS*

I ran yesterday on a whim, but if you still want to run tonight I'm game. Just let me know what time and I can meet you at Lake Eola.

Not having a car will certainly impact which races I do this year. Either I do ones my dad is also doing so he can drive me (LOL) or I race locally (within walking/biking distance).

If you still want to do a half marathon, I recommend the OUC Half. It is only $45, and the start is at Lake Eola so no travel required and you can even sleep in a bit and just walk on over. It was my first and I loved it. I probably won't do it this year since I did it twice already (and may do a relay the next day), but I may volunteer for it instead.

I also recommend the Miracle Miles 15 since it's only a few miles away. I'm actually considering running there to get the extra millage called for that day in the schedule.

Hope you get your lemonade soon :)

Hey girl! Sounds like times are a bit rough, but I know you will keep moving in the right direction. We can have our own local 5K soon as I was cleared for 2 miles this week. Don't think cardio wise I can even run 2 miles, cuz this girl is out of shape....but I'm getting closer and soon a 5K will be much needed after 9 1/2 months of no races.....just let me know when I can trek over for a run/walk to keep ya company!!!!
Hope you are okay.....keep your chin up!!!

You need to make the lemon cakes - only way to survive.

Hope you get more sweetness soon.

Enjoy the lemon cupcakes, which are the best solution by far!

Take care.

I wonder why I am craving lemons. Sorry you are feeling sour. Hang in there.

I like the final lemon sayings rather than the sappy ones. Take care of yourself.

So sorry to hear you won't be able to do the Chicago Half. I know you were really looking forward to it! We definitely have plenty of races here in Central Florida to keep you busy.

Hang in there - I'm sure things will start to look up soon.

I LOVE you lemon quotes!!

Hang in there - as they say - this to shall pass!!!

Continue running and find local races. To be honest I have never traveled to run - just run the locals.

Enjoy each day

Sorry you're having to change so many plans, I'm sure you've made the right descisions though. Now get making some lemon cupcakes and squirt the leftover juice in the eye of someone you don't like! *hugs*

I'm so sorry you've been having a bummer of a summer and that you had to cancel some of your races...I do hope you can continue to do local races and if all goes well we can still somehow meet up in November, whether you run St Pete or not... Hang in there and take good care of yourself, and above all, don't worry so much what everyone else thinks, just do what is right for YOU! Hugs and good luck all the way from Belgium :-)

Canceling races is the worst! I felt awful when we couldn't do Disney, but, I survived! :) I hope you still get to do St. Pete and we get to meet up someday :)

I am so upset with this dang leg and NO ONE has given me any lemons yet!!

I think I decided I will fly on over to run that Women Half with you. Maybe by then I will feel better. If not, I will hold the lemonade while I watch YOU run.

Sigh...

Robin, I keep meaning to get over here long enough to comment - life has been crazy lately and I've got another week of it before things slow down. But I wanted to say that I'm sorry things have been rough for you, and also that I'm sad your races aren't panning out the way you'd planned. I hope things are getting better, whatever they are. Hang in there, my friend. Hugs to you!

You guys are so amazing and I SOOOO appreciate your kind words, virtual hugs, and bloggy love. :)

I suppose if things were always perfect, we'd not appreciate them as much.

*HUGS* everybody!
