Happy Wednesday, everybody!
It's time to meet another blogging/running buddy!
This young lady is a newbie runner (less than a year), a future RD who dedicates MANY hours to her studies, and is a fellow Floridian, in the Turtle Runner's childhood part of the state ~ South Florida. She's cute as a button, a fellow tweep, and has crafted quite a professional-looking blog with fantastic 411. We're hoping for a bloggy meetup one of these days! Friends, I'd like to introduce you to ....
Eunice, of ....
Food 4 Fitness
How would you describe yourself as a runner?
Swift and speedy
Slow and steady
Somewhere in between
Slow and Steady
Ageless and Beautiful…. Are you:
Tweaking the Twenties
Thinking through the Thirties
Forty-plus and feeling fine
Tweaking the Twenties
Are you:
A starting-line show-stopper
A middle-of-the-pack mover
A back-of-the-pack ‘better-late-than-not-at-all’ runner
Somewhere in between? If so, which ones?
A back-of-the-pack ‘better-late-than-not-at-all’ runner
How long have you been running and why did you start running?
A: I started running in January of this year. I was motivated by friends who were running and by all of the inspiring running/fitness blogs out there. I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it!
Favorite running gear and why?
A: My Armpocket! I read about it during one of Robin’s giveaways and bought one soon after. I use a running app on my phone and I don’t like to run without music, so it’s a convenient way to carry everything. (Yay!)
What do you listen to when you run?
A: Hip-hop and rap! I’m working on branching out into other genres for some variety. Any favorite running song suggestions?
What is something you cannot run without, and why?
A: That would have to be my music. I’m not yet at the point where I can run in silence.
Maybe one day!
What race distance is your favorite and why?
A: Well, I’ve only done one TWO 5ks, so I suppose this is my favorite so far. :)
What time of day do you usually run, and why?
A: I definitely prefer to run in the mornings. Now that it’s getting SO hot in South Florida, the mornings are the best time to run in my opinion. Even then, the humidity is killer. Pretty soon I’ll be running in my underwear! Kidding, of course. Nobody wants to see that!
Treadmill, streets, or trails, and why?
A: Streets. When I first started running, it was always on a treadmill. Once I signed up for my first 5k, I forced myself to run around my neighborhood. I was kind of shy about running out in public, but then I realized that nobody’s looking at me! So, now it’s my favorite. I’m the crazy girl who sings and talks to herself while running. It amuses the neighborhood kids.
What has been your most significant running-related learning experience to date?
A: You can only run as far/fast as your legs will take you! I tried to do too much at once in the beginning, and I basically burned myself out. When the idea of running made me cringe, I took a step back and made more realistic goals. I’m not winning medals any time soon, but that’s ok with me.
What advice would you give to someone new to running?
A: Surround yourself with positive people who have similar goals. The people I’ve met through blogs and Twitter have been so encouraging of my running. They are quick to offer tips and motivation. It’s really made a difference in my training!
Short-term and long-term running goals?
A: My short-term goal is to run my next 5k in July (with a new PR, of course!). **Which she did. You can read about it here. My long-term goal is to do the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon relay in October. I’m excited!
Mileage goal for 2010?
A: I don’t have a mileage goal for this year, but I have started tracking my mileage. It’s fun to watch my progress throughout the last few months!
Do you have a blog, blog(s), or a website you’d like to share? If so, please list them.
A: Yes! I just started a blog in May called Food 4 Fitness http://food4fitness.wordpress.com/ Come and say hello!
Any additional info you’d like to share??
A: I ran my first 5k on June 6th! I was going at a “turtle” pace for sure, but I am so proud of myself! I think I can safely say that I’m addicted now. Can’t wait for my next race! *She completed her second 5K July 4th... Woo Hoo!
Thanks, Eunice, and welcome to running! So glad to know you! :)
Happy running, friends....

Great feature...going to check her out!
Eunice is awesomeness. And yeah, she does seem to work hard at the RD stuff. I wonder if she'd share the arm pocket thingy with me. I don't gots.
Yay!!! YOU GO GIRL!!! And by the way, that pic at the top of the girl holding the sign saying you're a winner looks just like you!!!!
I love these profiles each week and read them often!
I normally have to read blogs on my phone which is a pain for commenting but know that I tune in regularly and attempt to comment when I can :o) Thanks for stopping by Uncovering Me!
Thank you Robin and the rest of the Turtle readers! Loved being a part of the Wednesday Winners. :)
Glad to meet another newbie runner!
