Happy Wednesday!
This week, I'd like to introduce you to a fellow runner whose belief in supporting others and building community makes this Turtle Runner smile from ear to ear. Do turtles smile? You betcha!

| How's this for a mug shot?? |
Peter, of Florida Running and Triathlon, is a seasoned runner, with over 40 years experience running, training, coordinating race events, and sharing info about the Florida running community. As a result, a lifetime of travel to visit international friends met through racing has been and (apparently) continues to be, a fantastic outcome of all those years in the running community.
Runners ARE an amazing community, aren't we?? It's so exciting to meet others, no matter where you go!
Peter and I began corresponding through e-mail in late 2009, after I sent a message in response to an article I read in their magazine, a fantastic resource (paper copy, website, and e-Newsletter), particularly for Florida racers or for folks thinking about racing in Florida. (Awesome winter races in perfect weather!!!) LOTS of good race info: calendars and full-page ads for upcoming events and stats for races throughout the year, along with informative articles about training/nutrition/hydration/injury prevention. Good stuff!
A short time later, after a few e-mails back and forth, Peter offered me a can't-pass-up-opportunity (the kind we writers hope and look for, right?!): space (outside of/in addition to - the blogosphere) to share my stories ~ the lessons learned along this bumpy, often winding, sometimes down-right painful(!) road called running. I was elated! And Lessons from my Laces..... a writing project I had been working on for a while, had its first home.
Thank you, Peter, for believing in me and supporting another (writing) runner.
Got a few minutes to read some great stuff? (If not, be sure to bookmark and stop by with your favorite 'cup o' joe' later. You won't want to miss this!) Click here to read about Mr. Pat Williams, senior vice president of the Orlando Magic, and his running adventures with his wife, Ruth.
And while you're at it, I invite you to read the latest installment in my Lessons... series:
What happens after earning The Coveted Disney Princess Bling.... Click here to see what came next. (If you've been following the Turtle Runner for a while, you probably already know this lesson learned, but it's worth the reminder: train smart and be prepared for those big races.)
Are you a Wednesday Winner?
How are YOU
supporting
your running community?
Are you making a difference?
Would love to hear the details!!
Happy running, friends....
Robin
