Kudos to runners in NYC... braving the cold, ice, sleet, snow, and traffic.
Man! Now THAT is tricky running!
Just returned from a few days in NYC... lots of walking and stairclimbing, even up the ......
(+20 at base) to reach the crown of The Lady herself, The Statue of Liberty.
As we looked upward, we saw this...
Whew!!!
But the climb was worth it. Here's the prize (only 240 ticketed people get to see this view each day, according to the National Parks sign). Consider this my gift to you: I saved YOU climbing the 354 steps! :)
What goes up, must come down.
With ice and slushy snow on the ground, this turtle runner (aka Florida native) found running to be a dicey (and icey!) idea, and opted out (this time).
But lots and lots of steps walking and stairclimbing.... subways, statues, bookstores, you name it...
Looking forward to another NYC trip in the future and running through the city. Okay, and another morning climbing stairs in the Strand. :)
Happy running (and walking), friends....

354 in reverse.....
Oh, our aching knees, hips, and back!!
No. Really.

How do ya'll do it??

I love NYC anytime! I have been there in January and had a blast! I have not done the Statue of Liberty but spent a day at Ellis Island. Well worth the visit!
I have never been to NYC but if I ever make it there, would LOVE to go up the Statue of Liberty - you lucky girl, you! I'm surprised you didn't enter the race to the top of the Empire State building...wasn't that last weekend?? I think the winner made it in about 10 minutes. Yikes.
I bet you had a fabulous trip!! JEalous!
xo
I love NYC. There is always lots of walking!
I have only been to NYC twice but have a third trip planned in May. Actually there are 5 of us that just signed up for the "Ride New York" bike ride, so we will be heading to the city with out bikes. It should be fun!
I've only been to NYC once and didn't go to the Statue of Liberty, BUT did visit the Empire State Building. :) Great Pictures!
Holy moly that's a LOT of steps! Way to go!!! The view seems totally worth it!! :0)
