Candid Confession

Forgive me running gods for I have sinned....

It's been 3 months since my last run.

Yes, 3 months.  What the heck happened?

A lot.  No, really.  A lot can happen in three months.  For example....

  • Two books can move closer to completion
  • A consulting business can move closer to a full-time endeavor
  • Focus can be regained; a 'life mission' can be strengthened
  • Content can be developed
  • Online classes can be taken
  • Professional connections can be made
  • Projects can be launched while ideas can take shape
  • Books (lots of them!) can be read
  • Thousands upon thousands of words can be written......

Oh, wait.  Other things can happen in three months, too....

  • Pounds can be gained
  • Pants 'may' have to be replaced with larger ones
  • Muscles can forget what they're supposed to do
  • Fat can turn up in the most unforgiving places
  • Lungs can forget their capability
  • Running shoes can get dusty (well, not really dusty!)

It's been 3 months since my last run.

Until last week.

Yes, last Thursday started with a one-mile walk/run on the treadmill at o' dark thirty.  Felt good. Felt slow. Felt productive.  Felt like starting all over....

Started my day at 4:00 a.m. today, with two miles.  Did I mention I can't sleep much these days?  My little brain is on overload, buzzing with ideas!  So I hit the treadmill (well, thankfully, not really hit it), with a bit more running thrown in for good measure.  Yep, a few four-minute intervals at a 14:30 pace mixed in with 'quick' walking.

Ha!  How's that for turtle running??

Forgive me running gods for I have sinned.....

But that's the beauty of running, isn't it?  The roads are always there, forgiving our transgressions, and waiting quietly for us to return....

We just have to get out there and START

Happy running, friends....

* Life's Irony:  A year ago Monday (March 7th), I ran my first half-marathon.  I think I can hear the running gods chuckling!
