ABOUT

Hi!

I'm Robin,
Nickname: TRTL.RNR

In April 2006, life took an unexpected turn when chest pains and a trip to the ER led to a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes, a disease that is, unfortunately, becoming much more common in the United States.  My body was shutting down.  At 39, this couldn't be happening, could it??

BEFORE (October 2005)

Three days in the hospital provided time to think about the new (diabetic) me, and what that meant. Depression and denial set in, as I thought about my love-hate relationship with food and exercise (loved food, not so crazy about exercise, or at least, not consistently crazy about it!), and how my life had changed forever. Food became the enemy and exercise, the dreaded necessity.

Eventually, changes in my thinking led to changes in my behaviors, but it was a slow road. I hope my story, passion for good food, determination, and respect for exercise will inspire you, too...

AFTER
(Dec 2009, 40 pounds lighter)

Now, in 2012, after taking an 18-month hiatus and regaining 20 of my 40 pounds lost, it's time to get focused again.
March 2012: Just finished my first 'long run' (3 .4 miles... LOL)  in 18 months!
Finished strong and still smiling...

The way I see it, I can give up or find my back.
I choose to find my way!

Thanks for stopping by!
